about
Women in Print was founded by Susan Heaney, in Brisbane Queensland and Karen Goldsmith in Sydney, New South Wales, originally under GAMAA and later Visual Connections.
With the support of Visual Connections, and the sponsorship of Heidelberg Australia, Karen and Susan led Women in Print for more than a decade, with Sarah Moore and Visual Connections providing admin and operational support in the late 2010’s.
Under the Visual Connections’ management, the Women in Print Breakfast series achieved year on year record attendance, increased engagement and a growing movement that has formed a registered state association, now expanded into 7 capital cities, now including events in Hobart, and Canberra.
In 2020, the secretariat was moved to the Visual Media Association. A refreshed brand for Women in Print and the iconic Breakfast Series, as well as expanded webinars, and the broadening of the new Print & Prosecco evening networking events, provided Knowledge and Support for all women across our broad industry and inclusive Network.
In 2024 the board implemented strategies to provide practical career support for all women, and diverse communities in print, expanding to include technical certification scholarships, early career mentoring and networking opportunities for all, from apprentices to senior managers.
2025 Heralds the registration of the Association as a National entity, broadening the reach into the Regions under the first appointed Regional Ambassador, and the first wave of paid members taking part in the programs and benefits created through the work of the board and committees in 2024.
